Fruit Dessert japan

a bittersweet treat for summer that’s quick and easy to prepare

  • 3 1/2fl oz water
  • 4oz white sugar
  • juice and zest of 2 limes
  • 1/2 pineapple, cut into 2.5cm (1in) chunks
  • 2 bananas, cut into 4cm (1 1/2in) pieces
  • 3 kiwi fruit, peeled and quartered
  • 4 bamboo skewers, soaked in cold water for 2 hours

instructions

put the water, half the sugar, the lime juice and zest in a small pan

bring to the boil, lower the heat and simmer gently for 10-15 minutes or until thick and syrupy

thread the fruit on to the skewers

scatter over the remaining sugar evenly

heat a griddle or grill and cook until the fruit is golden and slightly charred, turning occasionally
